TransInterGenderSex - TIGS

TIGS is based on a workshop that was held during the annual transgender conference in Berlin in 2004, in which the goal was to reflect and consider the differences and common issues of transgender and intersexed people. The task was to find out where we could build bridges and political coalitions within the different needs and situations of trans and intersexed people, and together develop clear demands and explore strategies against heteronormative structures. Since the raised questions far exceeded the possibilities of a 4 hour workshop, the participants decided to meet again and so the group TIGS was founded. The groups activities include sporadic discussions and actions (such as a demonstration against IGM (Intersex Genital Mutilation) during a medical conference), often in cooperation with other activist groups such as genderkiller, 1-0-1 intersex and the scientific board of the TGNB.
