About 0,5 - 4 % of all life births are born intersexed - that means individuals, whose anatomy differs from the standard of what is considered male or female. Up to this day, IGM - intersex genital mutilation is being performed on babies and children (about 5 Surgeries a day in the USA). Not only have hermaphrodites or intersexed individuals still no legal support to be acknowledged as what they are: either as not sick and deseased and in need of medical intervention, or as a potential third sex, which would criminalize medical practices, broaden awareness of this phenomena and maybe indeed lessen the overall violence and heterosexism within the (current) two sexes. Furthermore, GID - Gender Identity Dysphoria is still being treated as a mental desease and transgendered children are being taken away from their supportive parents. Still, the sexuality of people is handled by the law, and anything that is not conform with the heterosexual norm is being criminalized, pathologized, immoralized, or colonized and exploited in "alternative" media. Androgyny is glorified in fashion and mainstream culture, but any variation of real bodies is being punished and eradicaded. Shame and secrecy still lead to 25-30% Suicides in Hermaphrodites.
